Overview
Linptech ES5 is designed for a harder automation problem than simple motion: deciding whether a person is still present in an area. It combines presence-oriented sensing with light information so a scene can react not only when someone walks past, but also according to occupancy and ambient conditions.
Everyday use
The ES5 is intended for side mounting and can be used to cover a room, corridor or defined zone. Available device documentation for the ES5 family describes an 8-metre sensing range and zone-masking functions, which can help reduce unwanted triggers from areas outside the intended detection space. It also exposes presence and absence events that are useful in lighting, HVAC or safety routines.
Smart-home integration
The device integrates with the Mijia ecosystem and uses Bluetooth-based connectivity through a compatible Bluetooth or Bluetooth Mesh gateway for automation. That gateway relationship matters: the sensor itself is not a Wi-Fi access point, and remote scenes depend on a suitable Xiaomi ecosystem gateway being online.
What to know
Presence sensors are sensitive to placement. Side mounting should be chosen so the active zone covers the occupied area without looking through thin partitions or toward spaces that should be ignored. ES5 is especially useful where a PIR motion sensor would switch lights off while someone remains seated or relatively still.
