Aaqra hub M1S Gateway Zigbee 3.0 WiFi Remote Control RGB Radio

The Aqara Hub M1S (model ZHWG15LM) is a plug-in smart-home gateway designed to connect Zigbee accessories with a Wi-Fi network and coordinate automations. Aqara’s manual describes it as a control center for devices such as switches, plugs, lights and curtains.

The hub uses Zigbee 3.0 (IEEE 802.15.4) for compatible child devices and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n for its network connection. The official ZHWG15LM manual instructs users to add the gateway through the Mi Home app and to connect the phone to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network during setup. It also documents Apple HomeKit pairing; supported child devices can be exposed to Apple Home after they are added to the hub.

The same manual describes an alternate Aqara Home setup mode that can be selected from the factory state. Because this is a region-specific mains-powered model, app region and ecosystem configuration should be checked before installation rather than assuming settings from a different M1S hardware variant.

Besides acting as a Zigbee gateway, the M1S includes a night light, a speaker and an illumination-sensing area. A single press of the hub button toggles the night light, while longer or repeated presses are used for network reset and factory reset operations. These integrated functions let the hub participate in scenes beyond simple protocol bridging.

For reliable Zigbee communication, Aqara recommends installing the hub near the center of the area containing its child devices. The manual states that unobstructed indoor communication between the gateway and child devices can reach up to 30 m, although walls and other environmental factors can reduce that distance.

ZHWG15LM is an indoor-only model rated for 220–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz. Its dimensions are 80 × 80 × 41.5 mm, with an operating range of -10 to 50 °C and 0–95% RH, non-condensing. These exact-model electrical ratings should be used instead of broader 100–240 V values found in older seller-derived text.
